Are you looking for a healthier and more delicious way to enjoy fish fillets? Look no further than our air-fried tilapia fish fillet recipe! Today was one of those evenings when I could not find anything to cook for dinner despite having a fully stocked freezer…can you relate? I decided to cook something I hadn’t had in a while – fish fillet. I had cod and tilapia so decided to use both for the same recipe. They both turned out delicious. I also decided to air fry instead of pan frying as it was one of those evenings I didn’t have the energy for clean up. Also, using an air fryer results in a crispy and flavorful dish that won’t leave me feeling guilty about consuming unhealthy fats and excessive calories.

To make this air fried fish fillets, you’ll need just a few simple ingredients: fish fillets, soy sauce sugar/honey, rice vinegar, cooking oil, garlic, jalapeno (optional), black pepper, sesame oil, onion powder, and scallions for garnishing.

To prepare, coat the fish with olive oil after patting it dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle black pepper, and then place it in the air fryer basket. Set the fryer at 400°F for 10-15 minutes depending on thickness. Meanwhile, whisk the soy sauce, sugar/honey, rice vinegar, black pepper, and onion powder, in a bowl. Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat then add the garlic and jalapeno if using. Cook for about 1 minute. Don’t let the garlic brown. Add the sauce to the pan and cook for 8-12 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove and add the sesame oil and mix well.

Serve the fish with the sauce spooned on top, garnished with scallions.
