Tender, flavourful steak seared in butter and seasoning served with a creamy shrimp sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 steak filet mignon about 1.5" thick
  • 1 cup shrimp deveined, tail off (or 20-24 pieces)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or oil of choice
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup half & half

Instructions
 

  • Pat dry steak with a paper towel then season with 3/4 tsp salt.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat then add olive oil
  • Add the steak and sear for about 4 minutes. Flip and sear for another 3 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 135 degrees (medium) or to your desired doneness.
  • Remove from pan and set aside. Cover the steak to rest.
  • In the same pan add the butter to melt followed by the shrimp, garlic, cayenne, rest of the salt and paprika.
  • Sautee for about 1 minute on each side or until no longer pink. Add cream and cook for about 2 min until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat then drizzle the lemon juice and set aside
  • Place the steak onto a chopping board and slice evenly. Put on the plate then top with the shrimp. Serve warm

Notes

Filet mignon can be quite expensive, so if that is not an option for you, any cut of beef will work. I would advise, however, to use baking soda to tenderize the beef. Mix 1 tbsp baking soda and 1 cup of water and let the beef soak for about 25 minutes. Rinse well and pat dry before continuing with the recipe.
