Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Can I utilize boneless pork chops instead of bone in?

Yes, boneless pork chops work well in this recipe and will cook slightly faster than bone-in ones. Keep in mind that bone-in chops tend to stay juicier and more flavorful since the bone helps retain moisture during the searing process.

2. What can I use for apple cider vinegar in the sauce?

White wine vinegar or regular white vinegar are the closest substitutes and will still provide the vital acidity to balance the sweetness of the honey. A small squeeze of fresh lemon juice also works as a lighter alternative.

3. How do I prevent the honey garlic sauce from burning in the pan?

The key is to lower the heat to medium before adding the sauce ingredients, as honey caramelizes quickly and can scorch on high heat. Keep stirring and monitoring the sauce closely as it simmers, adding a small splash of water if it starts to thicken too fast.

4. How do I know when the pork chops are fully cooked?

The safest way is to use a meat thermometer and check that the thickest part of the chop gets an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). If you don’t have a thermometer, the juices should run clear and the meat should no longer look pink in the center.

5. What are the best sides to serve with these honey garlic pork chops?

Fluffy white rice or creamy mashed potatoes pair beautifully as they soak up the sticky sauce perfectly. Smashed potatoes or steamed vegetables like broccoli and green beans also make excellent accompaniments for a well-rounded meal.
