Easy Dirty Rice Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup rice uncooked
  • 1.25 cup water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 450 g ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp ginger minced
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk optional
  • 1 cup bell peppers mixed, diced
  • 2 medium red chillis halved, optional
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Add oil and the ground beef to a large pan over medium heat then cook until browned
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger and continue to cook
  • Add the chopped onions, red chilli, and spices and stir well to combine
  • Add in the bell peppers and mix well. Remove and set aside
  • In the same pot, add water, coconut milk (if using) and butter and bring to a boil. Add the rice
  • Reduce heat to the lowest setting, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Return cooked meat back to the pot and gently mix to incorporate. Cover and simmer for an additional 10 minutes
  • Fluff rice with a fork and garnish with chopped scallions (optional).
