Bang Bang Chicken Skewers

A flavorful and spicy Asian-inspired dish made with chicken pieces and a sweet, creamy, tangy sauce to accompany it

Ingredients
  

  • 400 g chicken breast skinless, boneless. cut into cubes
  • 1 tsp garlic minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice fresh
  • parsley to garnish
  • 6-8 skewers soaked in water if wooden

For the Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sriracha sauce or hot sauce (adjust for spice level)
  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 2 tbsp barbecue sauce or ketchup

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine the minced garlic, onion powder, paprika, red chilli powder, salt or to taste, cooking oil, and lemon juice- Toss the chicken cubes in the marinade and let them sit for at least 20-30 minutes to absorb the flavours.
  • Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers, making sure not to overcrowd them. This allows the chicken to cook evenly.
  • Set your air fryer to 375 degrees or your grill to medium-high heat. Cook the chicken skewers for 15 minutes, turning halfway.
    Once done, brush with some of the bang bang sauce and air fry for another 3-5 minutes. Alternatively, you can bake them in the oven at 400°F for 15-20 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chilli sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice until smooth. Adjust the spiciness by adding more or less sriracha.
  • Drizzle the leftover bang bang sauce over the hot chicken skewers or serve it as a dipping sauce on the side. Garnish with parsley and serve hot!
